The profit before tax of the most successful companies in the past 5 years
In the past 5 years, our economy, as well as the world economy, experienced a major blow from the health crisis due to the Covid 19 epidemic. This has significantly affected many businesses and reduced their activities and, quite predictably, their financial results.
In this analysis, we present the movement of the total realized profit before taxation by the 200 most successful companies for a period of 5 years. As can be seen in the graph below, in 2018, the companies that were ranked as the 200 most successful, together made MKD 63.3 million in profit. In 2019, there is a slight drop of 2.7%, but already in 2020, the total profit decreases by 11.3% and amounts to MKD 54.6 million. The income that these companies achieved has also decreased by as much as 18.5% in one year and amounted to 578.4 million in 2019 and 471.5 million in 2020.
In 2021, the situation starts to improve and we have an increase in the total profit of 14.1%, that is, the total amount is MKD 62.3 million. In 2022, there is an approximate percentage increase of 15.7%, and the realized profit was MKD 72.1 million.
Despite the decline in the crisis periods, the profit still has a growing trend as shown in the graph. Contrary to this, if we look at the number of employed persons, we notice that although there has been an increase since 2021, the number is still not even close to the one in 2019. There is a visible downward trend, by 11.1% in 2022 compared to 2019.
