AD Mermeren Kombinat – Prilep is a company that has existed since 1946 and is a global leader in the extraction and processing of snow-white Prilep marble, which is sold on the global market under the trademark SIVEC®.
For 79 years, this company has strived to carefully utilize a natural resource that has been exploited since the time of our ancestors.
There is evidence that this snow-white marble was used during the Roman Empire to make high-quality sculptures, modeled after the Greek ones, and today this Macedonian natural resource, which is processed in the city under Marko's Towers, is a symbol of luxury, elegance and timeless beauty.

You may hear a lot of facts about Prilep marble, some of them are true, and others are part of urban legends, so below we tried to do a brief research on what is true and what is a lie...
AD Mermeren Kombinat Prilep operates with approximately 30% of the concession area of 2.19 km 2.
The raw material from the mine is processed in the plants located in the city of Prilep, and the total area of the factory covers 65,000 m 2.
In addition to the processing plants, the factory also has large storage warehouses, where all types of boards and tiles, polished and unpolished in various dimensions, as well as processed granulate, but also custom-made products are stored.
The well-developed trade and marketing network, as well as the proximity of the port of Thessaloniki, make this Macedonian resource easily accessible on all continents, so the registered trademark SIVEC® is often part of the offer of all the world's most famous companies engaged in the sale and trade of marble.
Thanks to the large area of excavation, as well as the size of the company, AD Mermeren Kombinat is a global leader in the extraction of white marble in the world, whose product is widely renowned and known.

This is one of the stories you will often hear from older adults, who had the opportunity to live in other times and in another political and social system, in which AD Mermeren Kombinat as a company also existed and had great importance as an economic factor in the country.
Whether half of Baghdad was really built with the snow-white Prilep marble cannot be proven, but it is a fact that in the palaces of the former leader of the country, Saddam Hussein, one can find huge areas decorated with marble, and it is believed that SIVEC® marble from AD Prilepski Kombinat was used for some of them.
During his reign, Saddam built around 100 palaces and villas, which were luxuriously decorated with gold and marble, and all the details of their construction were kept in the strictest secrecy.
It is known that Saddam often imported marble from Europe, from countries like Italy and former Yugoslavia, when building his palaces, so it is very likely that the snow-white marble of AD Prilepski Kombinat was used in many of his palaces.

This is a fact that can be confirmed in multiple sources.
Namely, due to its exceptionally pure snow-white color, with minimal thin gray lines, great durability and elegant appearance, as well as its unique structure that allows easy adaptation of the material in architectural solutions, white marble from Prilep was used for the construction of this large temple.
According to data, around 165,000 m2 of white marble was used in the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi , for the construction of the domes, minarets, and for the cladding of the interior walls.

Looking at the snow-white structure of the White House in Washington, D.C., you could easily believe the story that white Prilep marble was used in its construction, but this is a fact that is considered a lie.
The truth is that the house was built between 1792 and 1800, with stone from Virginia, USA, which was then painted white.
Later, during the renovations, marble was imported, but unfortunately there is no official data that Prilep marble was used in any part of the construction of the presidential palace in the United States.
Although this claim is reduced to an urban legend, there is still official data, which proves that Prilep marble was used in a number of other world-famous buildings, such as the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow.
Prilep marble was also used for the reconstruction of Diocletian's Palace in Split, and in addition to being used for the construction of religious and reconstruction of monuments, white marble from Prilep is also part of a large number of new buildings around the world.
Hotels, shopping malls, government buildings – the snow-white marble from Prilep is often part of a large number of projects and buildings whose main goal is to last and not succumb to the ravages of time for centuries.

The above-mentioned facts are not just a marketing ploy, but they are supported by real evidence that speaks to the quality of the product that AD Prilepski Kombinat has been offering on the global market for decades, and because of that, it has an undisputed place among the most successful Macedonian companies.
Mermeren Kombinat AD Prilep has been part of the family of 200 LARGEST AND SUCCESSFUL since the very beginning of the project, and in 2023 it again realized profit growth and managed to improve its ranking on the list of the most сuccessful Macedonian companies.
