STENTON GRADBA - a company that successfully turns challenges into opportunities

From sand separation to a major player in Macedonian construction, how does STENTON GRADBA show that it is a company that successfully knows how to deal with all the challenges that companies in this sector face?
STENTON GRADBA - a company that successfully turns challenges into opportunities

The last few years have been a time when the construction sector in Macedonia has faced serious challenges: a serious shortage of qualified labor, rising prices of construction materials, inflationary pressures, and ever-increasing demands for quality and construction deadlines .

And when we take into account the financial indicators published within the framework of the 200 LARGEST AND SUCCESSFUL project, it is clear that STENTON GRADBA DOO, Orizari - Bitola, manages to overcome all these challenges and maintain its position among the largest and most successful companies in the country.

In the past two decades, the company has grown into one of the recognizable leaders in domestic construction and a proud member of the list of top Macedonian companies .

Through continuous investments in modern mechanization, human resource development, and the implementation of numerous infrastructure, industrial, and construction projects, STENTON GRADBA is a positive example of a construction company that has managed to build a stable business model that enables growth even in periods of economic uncertainty.

Construction is one of the industries most directly affected by economic changes. Rising prices for raw materials, energy and transportation, the shortage of skilled personnel and the changing dynamics of public and private investments are factors that significantly affect the operations of companies.

However, the financial results of STENTON GRADBA show that with good planning, efficient management and timely investments, continuity and stable development can be ensured.

Financial indicators that confirm stability

In the data for 2024, STENTON GRADBA ranked 179th among the largest companies in Macedonia and 119th among the most successful companies , thus once again confirming its position in the domestic economy.

The company worked with an average of 188 employees, and during the year it generated total revenues of 1,400,731,705 denars.

Profit before tax reached 168,165,422 denars , representing another year of positive financial performance.

Particularly significant is the growth in revenue, which compared to the previous year is 24.15 percent.

In conditions where the construction sector operates under constant pressure from rising costs and labor shortages, such a result is an indicator of increased workload and successfully implemented projects.

At the same time, the increased profit before tax of 5.9 percent shows that the company managed to maintain profitability despite increased operating costs. Although the growth in profit is more moderate than the growth in revenue, this is quite expected , considering that we are talking about a sector that has been "under attack" in the last few years and is facing significantly higher prices for materials, fuel, transport and labor.

Calculated according to financial results, profit before tax represents around 12 percent of revenue, which is a solid achievement, considering that this is a company operating in the construction industry, where profit margins are often under strong pressure.

Construction remains one of the drivers of economic growth

In the past decade, it has become clear to everyone that the construction sector has far greater significance than the construction of buildings themselves.

It represents one of the most important drivers of economic development because it directly affects multiple industries – from the production of construction materials, transportation and the mechanical industry, to trade, the financial sector and services.

Every new investment in roads, bridges, industrial facilities, residential and commercial buildings creates new economic value and opens up opportunities for the engagement of a large number of companies and workers. Therefore, the state of construction is often considered one of the most important indicators of economic activity in a country.

In Macedonia, 2024 was a period of continuation of several infrastructure projects, but also a year in which companies had to operate in significantly more complex conditions than a few years ago.

The shortage of qualified labor remains the biggest challenge

In addition to rising material prices and operating costs, the biggest problem facing construction companies is the lack of qualified labor.

According to estimates by business organizations and representatives of the construction sector, the Macedonian market lacks more than 12,000 qualified construction workers.

This problem is not specific only to Macedonia, but is also present in most countries in the region.

In recent years, some companies have tried to alleviate the shortage by hiring foreign workers. However, practice shows that many of them see North Macedonia as a temporary destination before leaving for European Union countries, where working conditions and salaries are significantly higher.

Such a situation further increases competition for qualified personnel and forces companies to constantly invest in improving working conditions, training new workers, and retaining existing staff.

Success does not depend only on the number of workers

In such circumstances and conditions , the success of a construction company is no longer measured solely by the number of completed projects.

The organization of the work process, the efficient use of resources, investments in mechanization, and the ability to meet investors' requirements in a timely manner are of increasing importance.

The example of STENTON GRADBA shows that well-organized operations, discipline in project implementation, and continuous investment in the company's development can significantly reduce the impact of labor shortages.

At the same time, the company strives to diversify its activities and participate in different types of construction projects, thus ensuring greater stability and reducing risks associated with market changes.

Investments in mechanization bring competitive advantage

Modern construction requires constant technological advancement. New mechanization and modern construction equipment enable faster project implementation, better quality of construction, and greater safety at work.

In conditions where qualified workers are becoming increasingly difficult to obtain, investments in modern machinery represent one of the most important competitive advantages.

Such investments enable higher productivity, more efficient use of resources, and reduced time required for project implementation, which is especially important for large infrastructure investments.

A significant economic factor in the Pelagonia region

As a company headquartered in Orizari, Bitola, STENTON GRADBA has a significant impact on the economic development of the Pelagonia region.

With almost two decades of successful operation, the company not only provides stable jobs, but also contributes to the development of the local economy by engaging domestic suppliers, transport companies, subcontractors and other business partners.

At the same time, the implementation of infrastructure and construction projects has a broader significance for the region, as improved infrastructure creates conditions for easier movement of people and goods, attracting new investments and developing the local economy.

The company creates job positions not only in Pelagonia, but also in all regions where it implements its projects, making its economic impact felt beyond its home region.

Positioned for further development

The financial results for 2024 show that STENTON GRADBA is successfully overcoming the challenges posed by modern construction.

Revenue growth of over 24 percent, positive performance, and maintained profitability are indicators that the company has a stable business model and the capacity to continue its development in the coming years.

In conditions where the construction sector remains one of the most important economic sectors, and infrastructure investments continue to be a significant driver of economic growth, companies that invest in people, technology, and organization of operations will have the greatest opportunities for further progress.

With its continued presence among the 200 LARGEST AND SUCCESSFUL companies in North Macedonia, STENTON GRADBA once again confirms that it is one of the stable leaders of the domestic construction industry and a company that is successfully building its future based on experience, quality and long-term development vision.
