The analysis was prepared for the companies that in 2021 ranked on the list of the largest by total revenue, and includes a division by number of companies, total revenue and number of employees. We also included the profit of the companies. 

As can be assumed, most of the largest companies are from the capital and its surroundings, and the total income that these companies have realized is MKD 608.9 billion. We are talking about as many as 128 companies operating in the area of Skopje, which in 2021 employed almost 51,300 people. These 128 companies have achieved MKD 33.6 billion in profit before tax. It is worth mentioning that in the technological industrial development zones in Skopje are located most of the foreign direct investments, which we can safely say are one of the world largest companies. One of these foreign direct investments is actually the largest company in the Skopje region, and it is Johnson Matthey.

If we look at other regions, there is a very big difference in the number of companies and in the total income. There is a noticeable difference in the rankings if the number of companies or total revenue is taken into account, but here we analyze the largest companies, so total revenue is the main criteria.

With MKD 52.4 billion in income and MKD 5 billion in profit before tax, the second region is the vardar region, where 11 of the largest companies operate. However, the largest, Euronickel Industry, is located in Kavadarci. Then follows the eastern region with MKD 39.8 billion income and MKD 4.9 billion profit made by 12 companies and 8250 employees. The largest company from this region is Ampfenol Technologies from Kocani. The pelagonian region is close in terms of income with MKD 37 billion and MKD 2.3 billion in profit. In this region, 13 largest companies employ over 11,300 employees, and Kromberg and Schubert Macedonia Bt DOOEL ranks as the largest. In 5th place is the southeast region, where 14 companies realize MKD 31.3 billion in income andMKD  2.4 billion in profit. The number of employees is significantly lower compared to other regions and is slightly more than 2400 employees. Dojran Steel from Dojran takes the first place among the largest companies in the southeast region.

With almost the same amount of total income are the southwest and the, so called Poloski, regions, where the companies made MKD 21.9 billion and MKD 21.1 billion, by 9 and 10 companies, respectively. In the southwestern region, the 9 companies employ over 3,600 people, and in the Poloski region, the 10 companies employ close to 2,500 people. The two largest companies from these regions are Kostal Macedonia from Ohrid in the southwest region and Lear Corporation Macedonia from Tetovo in the Poloski region.

The smallest and last on the list is the northeastern region with only 3 companies that are ranked as the largest in the country and that achieved an income of MKD 5.6 billion and MKD 300 million in profit before tax. The number of employees is over 450, and Detoil DOO from Kumanovo stands out as the largest company in this region.
