The financial giants in Macedonian banking
There are 13 banks in the Macedonian banking system, according to the latest data on active banks in 2022. In the continuation of the text, you can see how the rankings of the largest and most successful banks looked according to capital and reserves and profit before income tax.
First on the list of the largest banks, with the highest realized capital and reserves in the amount of MKD 22.2 billion, is Stopanska Banka AD Skopje. Then, ranked as second is NLB Banka with MKD 15.57 billion in capital and reserves. With a very small difference, the third place is taken by Komercijalna Banka, and its capital and reserves amounted to MKD 15.55 billion.
It is followed by Halk Banka with MKD 13.4 billion in realized capital, and in fifth place is Sparkasse Banka, which realized MKD 10.7 billion in capital and reserves.
In terms of pre-tax profit achieved by financial entities, we have a slightly different overall picture, but the top five remains the same.
Namely, the first place as the most successful bank is taken by NLB Banka with a realized profit of MKD 2.68 billion. Then there is Stopanska Banka, with a profit of MKD 2.62 billion, in second place. The third place on this list, as well as on the previous one, is taken by Komercijalna Banka with a profit of MKD 2.3 billion. Sparkasse Banka was in the fourth place with a profit of MKD 1.1 billion, and Halk Banka is the fifth most successful bank with a profit of MKD 800 million in 2022.
