In direction of the commitment to constant modernization and expansion of the production capacities, production volumes and assortment, "Alkaloid" AD Skopje has completed the realization of its largest investment in the last two decades - the new plant for production of solid pharmaceutical forms Tablet Grade 2.0 and the accompanying technical premises.

The new technical-technological facility, whose goal is to more than double the volume and greater flexibility in the production of solid pharmaceutical forms, occupies an area of 6,200 m2 (production and technical premises), and for it "Alkaloid" invested a total of EUR 19.4 million. For the construction of this building, which started in April 2021, 30 domestic and 16 foreign companies were hired, and the construction works and the furnishing took place under the guidance of the professional services of "Alkaloid" AD Skopje. The premises are designed in accordance with the strict norms for good production practice, and all processes are fully integrated and digitized, with automatic generation of all data from process controls.

In the new plant for the production of solid pharmaceutical forms, the production of tablets, film-coated tablets, capsules and double-layered tablets will be carried out, which are being introduced as a production technology in Macedonia for the first time. We are talking about tablets containing several active substances with different chemical-physical properties or with a different way of releasing the ingredients, which are carefully and precisely dosed, but physically separated with properly ensured stability and effectiveness, allowing patients to take the complete therapy of several drugs only through one tablet. The equipment for the production of solid pharmaceutical forms is purchased from world-renowned manufacturers of equipment of this type: GEA (equipment for wet granulation), Alexanderwerk (equipment for dry granulation), Lodige (equipment for homogenization), Fette (tablet presses), Glatt (film-coating system), De Lama (automatic container washing machine) and others.

With the commissioning of the new technical-technological unit for the production of solid pharmaceutical forms, the production volume doubles, so instead of the previous capacity of 2 billion tablets per year, the current projected production capacity is more than 4 billion tablets per year.

Our goal remains to differentiate ourselves through knowledge and development of products with added value, and we are determined to stay on this course in the future, working on the further globalization of the Alkaloid brand, with dignity and dedication, by practicing high ethical standards, credibility and a professional approach in the overall operations", stated the General Manager and Chairman of the Management Board Zivko Mukaetov at the official launching of the new department, which was held in the presence of senior representatives of the company's management, as well as representatives of the media from the country and from the region.

This is one of the largest investment projects of "Alkaloid" AD in the past two decades. In 2005, the company had placements of 53.1 million euros, and in 2023 it presented consolidated placements of 268.3 million euros. As a result of this five-fold continuous growth, during the past 15 years, investments worth over 220 million euros were realized.

Pharmaceutical products of "Alkaloid" are present on the markets of more than 40 countries in the world.
